Chaves County Health Council works with local partners to strengthen behavioral health, prevent suicide and overdose, reduce stigma, and improve access to support throughout Chaves County.

OUR FOCUS

Together with our partners, we work to strengthen behavioral health across Chaves County through:

Suicide Prevention

Supporting community education, prevention strategies, safe connections to care and practical tools that help reduce suicide risk.

Community Action in Practice

Some of the ways we are working with our community to make a difference:

QPR Suicide Prevention Training

Community-based Question, Persuade, Refer training helps participants recognize warning signs, ask about suicide and connect someone with appropriate support.

Lethal Means Safety

Promoting practical suicide-prevention strategies, including education and distribution of firearm locking devices through community partnerships.

Overdose Prevention

Providing community-based overdose prevention and response education, naloxone training and distribution, outreach, and connections to treatment and recovery.

System Coordination

Bringing behavioral health providers, first responders, community organizations and other partners together to identify gaps and improve local access and response.

Behavioral health improvement takes coordinated community action.  Residents, service providers, schools, first responders, nonprofits and other community partners are welcome to participate in local behavioral health efforts.
